Pita-Pocket Sandwich

Pita-Pocket sandwiches are one of the most creative ways to make a well-rounded, delicious meal that the whole family will love! This is just one way of making this fun, easy, and affordable dish, but a variety of ingredients can be used instead. Trust me, this will become a family go-to!

Cookware
  • Oven safe baking dish or tinĀ 
Ingredients
  • Whole-wheat pita bread
  • 1 3-oz piece of chicken breast
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika 
  •  1/4 tsp garlic powder 
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Sprinkle of pepper
  • 1 TBSP tomato paste
  • 1/4 avocado, sliced
Substitutions
You can substitute any of the ingredients for some of your favorites, and or add some others as you see fit! 

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees   

Step 2

Marinate chicken with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper (for at least 20 minutes, but can be left overnight)

Step 3

Place chicken in baking dish and bake for 45 minutes (depending on thickness of chicken breast); Remove from oven and let cool; Once cooled, slice chicken into strips 

Step 4

Slice the top of your pita break to make a small hole at the top and make it big enough to fit sandwich fillings; Spread the inside of the pita with hummus; Place sliced avocado inside; Place strips of chicken breast inside
