Knowing how to cook and create nutrient dense meals is the main goal and reason why I created Fare Meals by Arielle. The idea is to provide a free resource to help families create healthy, easy and affordable meals. I also understand that not everyone has access to the same types of foods, which is why my recipes are easy and allow for many substitutions based on what is available or individually accessible.

Living in NYC, my desire to help families has just been amplified by the current situation we are all living through. In conjunction with my desire and passion to help educate families on how to use food, I also want to help provide as many in-need families as possible and ensure they have access to real, staple food items in order to make sure they don’t go hungry.

This is why I am starting a donation initiative this week. I am pledging to donate $5 to City Harvest for every new follow I receive to @faremeals on Instagram between May 28th and June 4th.

Why City Harvest? City Harvest is NYC’s largest food rescue organization. In fact, they will rescue more than 80 million pounds of food this year and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens and other community partners across the five boroughs. Their programs help food-insecure New Yorkers access nutritious food that fits their needs and desires; and strengthen the local food system, building a path to a food-secure future for all New Yorkers.

With City Harvest’s goal of supplying food my ability to teach families how to use the food once they have it, I could not think of a better partnership.

So, help spread the word, and help me help them by following me @faremeals.
