Banana French Toast

Ingredients
  • 6 slices whole grain or sprouted bread
  • 1 cup liquid egg whites
  • ¾ cup almond milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 banana, sliced into coins
Substitutions

You can use whatever fruit you want instead of bananas. You can also use any type of bread or milk. Add your favorite spices in addition to cinnamon. You can also add maple syrup on top for extra sweetness. Lastly, you can use regular eggs instead of egg whites for added healthy fats.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

In a shallow bowl, whisk together egg whites, milk of choice, vanilla, and cinnamon until fully combined

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium heat; Spray with cooking spray or use a small amount of olive oil or avocado oil.

 

Step 3

Place one slice of bread into the wet mixture; Soak for about 10 seconds; Flip and soak for an additional 10 seconds

Step 4

Transfer slice of bread to skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side

Step 5

Transfer to a plate and repeat process with remaining slices of bread; Serve with sliced bananas
