Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal

This easy-to-make recipe for pumpkin spice oatmeal is packed with nutrients, affordable ingredients, and festive fall flavors.

Pumpkin is a great source of vitamin A for skin and eye health. Oats are a whole grain that have fiber to promote bowel health. Maple syrup is a natural sweetener with antioxidants.




  • Large pot

  • Whisk or large spoon

  • Serving bowls


1 cup rolled oats

3 cups water or milk

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

2 tsp ground pumpkin spice 

1-2 TBSP maple syrup (optional)

1/2-1 tsp vanilla extract (optionnal)

Pinch of salt 




Feel free to make this recipe your own based on what you like or what you already have. You can any kind of milk for the liquid, or only water. Feel free to add your favorite toppings like nuts, seeds, and fruit. If you don’t have pumpkin spice, opt for ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, or clove. 

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Add all ingredients to a large pot; Stir to combine



Step 2

Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer


Step 3

Cook for about 15 min, stirring occasionally until oats are cooked and mixture has thickened 


Step 4

Optional: Add toppings such as chopped nuts, seeds, fresh or frozen fruit, berries, or nut butter.

Step 5

Serve in bowls or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days; Enjoy!
